From all of us here at Beacon Heights Community League, we hope that you are having a great summer so far! Here are a few updates we would like you to be aware of.
Most importantly, the Men’s Shed group now meets every Wednesday at the Jubilee Park rink shack from 7-9PM. Sunday mornings (the original time) didn’t seem to be working for most folks.
Besides spending the odd meeting sitting down for friendly chats over coffee and donuts we have completely cleared out the equipment room that houses the snow blowers, among others things. This is now a pretty decent workshop with cabinet space and a work bench (which we also built).
Our next project is a big one, but we are currently only in the planning stages. We hope to build a little pub shed next to one of the ice rinks. It will even have a covered porch!
We currently have about half a dozen regular members and we look forward to seeing you there. This is a great way to connect with others in your community and learn new skills in the process. Pretty good deal!
Jubilee Park concession
Our very own concession stand is now open at the Jubilee Park rink shack Tuesday – Saturday from noon to 5PM. Lee Speed (pictured below behind the counter), our concession extraordinaire, will be happy to serve you chips, pop, freezies and popcorn from our brand new popcorn maker.
An added bonus is that the washrooms are also available to the public during those hours. We ask that you help us to keep the washrooms clean so that everyone can enjoy (if that’s the proper word) them.
