Rink to Stay Closed for the Season

The Beacon Heights Community League board of directors decided to keep our rink closed for the season in the interest of public safety. We simply do not have the volunteers required to manage the rink with the current Covid restrictions in place. Also, the ice is very labour intensive to create and maintain in the hopes of the restrictions being lifted enough to allow us to skate safely. We know this is a difficult time for many and the rink is a physical outlet for many kids and adults. This was a well-discussed and thought-out decision, difficult as it was to make. We all look forward to getting back to normal next year.

Suspended Use of the Facility

On August 17th, the Beacon Heights Community League Board of Directors made the tough decision to suspending all programs and facility rentals at the Jubilee Park Rink Building.

The strict physical distancing requirements and cleaning protocols, as recommended by the EFCL and the City of Edmonton, make it impractical at this time for the league to use the facility for anything other than basic league operations.

Although we currently do not have the staff or resources in place to maintain the recommended standards and have determined that appropriate building capacity in public spaces is 12, we will re-evaluate on an ongoing basis and look for solutions to resume programming as soon as we are able to safely do so.

We understand that this may cause disappointment or inconvenience to our members looking to use our facility and to those who enjoy our programs as it has for us.

Thank you for you patience and understanding as we work toward solutions that will allow us to safely open and allow public use of our facility.
